The Jewel of the Nile (1985) is an adventure-comedy film and a sequel to Romancing the Stone. Directed by Lewis Teague, it stars Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito. The story follows romance novelist Joan Wilder (Turner) and adventurer Jack Colton (Douglas) as they are drawn into a quest to rescue a Middle Eastern spiritual leader known as “The Jewel” from a ruthless dictator. The film is set against a backdrop of North African landscapes, featuring daring escapes, comedic confrontations, and a growing romance between the two protagonists. While it retains the humour and chemistry of its predecessor, the film’s exotic settings and larger-than-life characters give it a unique appeal.
