Nortec Collective

Nortec Collective is a group of musicians and producers from Tijuana, Mexico, who are known for blending traditional Mexican norteño and banda music with electronic beats and modern production techniques. Formed in the late 1990s, Nortec Collective has been credited with creating the "nortec" sound, which merges the brass and accordion-based melodies of norteño with electronic music elements like house, techno, and ambient. Their unique sound has garnered international attention and has placed them at the forefront of the global electronic and Latin fusion scenes.

The group's albums, such as Tijuana Sessions Vol. 1, have been critically acclaimed for their innovative approach to music, mixing old and new in ways that challenge traditional genre boundaries. Nortec Collective’s sound reflects the cultural melting pot of their native Tijuana, where Mexican and American influences collide. Their work not only redefines the possibilities of electronic music but also serves as a celebration of Mexican cultural heritage, presented in a contemporary context.
