Violent Femmes

Violent Femmes are an American folk-punk band formed in 1980 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their raw, acoustic-driven sound blended elements of punk, folk, and alternative rock, making them pioneers of the college rock movement of the 1980s. Their self-titled debut album, featuring hits like Blister in the Sun and Gone Daddy Gone, became an underground classic, celebrated for its angsty, lo-fi energy and confessional lyrics.

Despite lineup changes over the years, Violent Femmes maintained their cult status, continuing to tour and release music that retained their signature mix of rebellious spirit and stripped-down instrumentation. Their influence can be heard in alternative and indie rock bands that followed, and their debut album remains a touchstone for generations of fans drawn to its raw and honest sound.
