The Sundays

The Sundays were an alternative rock band from England, best known for their dreamy, jangly guitar sound and the delicate yet powerful vocals of Harriet Wheeler. Emerging in the late 1980s, they gained recognition with their debut album Reading, Writing and Arithmetic (1990), which featured the indie hit "Here's Where the Story Ends." Their music, characterized by poetic lyrics and shimmering guitar work, set them apart in the early '90s alternative scene.

Despite their critical and commercial success, The Sundays maintained a relatively low profile, releasing only three albums over a decade. Their 1997 single "Summertime" became another standout hit, but the band eventually faded from the spotlight, choosing family life over fame. Still, their influence persists, with their gentle, melancholic sound continuing to inspire indie and dream pop artists today.
