The Lovemongers
The Lovemongers was a side project of Ann and Nancy Wilson, best known as the frontwomen of Heart. Formed in the early 1990s, the band allowed the Wilson sisters to explore a more stripped-down, acoustic-driven sound that contrasted with Heart’s bombastic rock style. Their most notable moment came when they contributed a stunning cover of Led Zeppelin’s “The Battle of Evermore” for the Singles (1992) soundtrack, earning praise for their ability to capture the ethereal, mystical quality of the original.
Though they never reached the same level of fame as Heart, The Lovemongers allowed Ann and Nancy Wilson to showcase their musicianship in a more intimate setting. Their album Whirlygig (1997) featured a mix of folk, classic rock, and blues influences, highlighting their intricate vocal harmonies and deeply personal songwriting. The project served as a passion-driven outlet rather than a commercial venture, giving fans a different perspective on the Wilson sisters’ artistry.
