Stretch

Stretch was a British rock band formed in the mid-1970s, best known for their hit single "Why Did You Do It?" The band was originally assembled to fulfill a contractual obligation for a tour that was supposed to feature the reformed Fleetwood Mac, but when the lineup fell apart, Stretch was created to take their place. Despite these unusual beginnings, the band managed to carve out a niche for themselves in the rock scene, with "Why Did You Do It?" becoming a major hit in Europe, particularly known for its funky bassline, gritty vocals, and catchy chorus.

Stretch's music was a blend of rock, blues, and funk, reflecting the eclectic backgrounds of its members. Although the band never achieved widespread commercial success beyond their initial hit, they have remained a cult favorite, with "Why Did You Do It?" continuing to receive airplay on classic rock stations and being featured in various films and commercials. Over the years, the band has seen several lineup changes and has reformed for live performances, maintaining a legacy as one of the more intriguing footnotes in British rock history.
