Steam
Steam was an American pop-rock band best known for their 1969 hit Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye. The song, originally intended as a B-side filler, became an unexpected success, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The chant-like chorus turned it into an enduring sports stadium anthem, often used to taunt losing teams. Despite the massive popularity of the track, Steam was not a traditional band but rather a studio project led by songwriter and producer Paul Leka.
Following the success of Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, Steam attempted to build on its momentum but failed to produce another hit. The group disbanded soon after, leaving them as a classic one-hit wonder. However, their signature song remains an iconic piece of pop culture, frequently played at sporting events and celebrations to this day.
