Phunk Junkeez
Phunk Junkeez is a rap-rock band from Phoenix, Arizona, known for their fusion of hip-hop, punk, funk, and alternative rock. Formed in the early 90s, they quickly gained a reputation for their high-energy performances and irreverent attitude. Their self-titled debut album (1992) and follow-up Injected (1995) showcased their genre-blending sound, with tracks that incorporated elements of Beastie Boys-style rapping and Red Hot Chili Peppers-esque funk grooves.
Though they never reached the heights of some of their rap-rock contemporaries, Phunk Junkeez carved out a niche in the underground scene. They gained some national recognition when their song "Can't Get Wit' It" was featured in the film Tommy Boy. Over the years, they have continued to release music and tour, maintaining a dedicated fanbase that appreciates their unique mix of rebellious energy and party-starting anthems.
