MCA Records

MCA Records was a major American record label that operated from 1934 until 2003. Originally formed as a subsidiary of the Music Corporation of America, it became a prominent label in the music industry. MCA Records was known for signing a diverse range of artists across various genres, including rock, pop, country, and R&B.

Some of the notable artists and bands associated with MCA Records include Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Olivia Newton-John, and many others. The label played a significant role in the music industry, particularly during the 1970s and 1980s.

In 2003, MCA Records was absorbed into Geffen Records, another label under the Universal Music Group umbrella, effectively ending its existence as an independent label. The MCA Records catalog is now managed by Universal Music Enterprises.
