Mary Jane Girls

Mary Jane Girls was an American R&B girl group formed by Rick James in the early 1980s. The group was named after James' hit song "Mary Jane" and consisted of members JoJo McDuffie, Candi Ghant, Maxi B, and Cheri Wells. They were known for their sultry image and funk-infused sound, which was heavily influenced by Rick James' production style. Their debut album, released in 1983, included the hit single "All Night Long," which became a major hit on the R&B charts and remains a classic of the genre.

The Mary Jane Girls released a second album, "Only Four You," in 1985, which included the hits "In My House" and "Wild and Crazy Love." Despite their success, the group disbanded in the mid-80s due to internal conflicts and changes in the music industry. Nevertheless, their music has continued to be celebrated for its infectious grooves and memorable hooks. The Mary Jane Girls' influence can be seen in the work of many contemporary R&B and pop artists, and their legacy as one of the premier girl groups of the 1980s remains intact.
