INXS
INXS was an Australian rock band formed in 1977, known for their electrifying live performances and a unique blend of rock, new wave, and dance music. The band, led by charismatic frontman Michael Hutchence, achieved international fame in the 1980s with a string of hits including "Need You Tonight," "New Sensation," and "Devil Inside." Their album Kick (1987) was a commercial powerhouse, solidifying their status as one of the most successful bands of the decade. INXS's sound was characterized by a mix of funky basslines, catchy guitar riffs, and Hutchence's sultry vocals, which together created a distinct style that resonated with a wide audience.
INXS continued to enjoy success into the 1990s, but the band's trajectory was tragically altered by the death of Michael Hutchence in 1997. Despite this, the band continued to perform with various lead singers and maintained a loyal fan base. Their influence on the music scene is enduring, with many contemporary artists citing INXS as an inspiration. The band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2001, further cementing their legacy in the annals of rock history.
