Huey 'Piano' Smith & The Clowns
Huey 'Piano' Smith was a New Orleans R&B pianist known for his rollicking, infectious boogie-woogie style. His band, The Clowns, scored hits in the 1950s with classics like "Don't You Just Know It" and "Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu", bringing joy and energy to early rock ‘n’ roll.
Smith’s influence can be heard in the later development of rock, R&B, and funk, as his playful, danceable piano work laid the groundwork for generations of musicians. Though he never achieved the same level of fame as some of his contemporaries, his legacy lives on in the DNA of New Orleans music.
