Hootie & The Blowfish

Hootie & The Blowfish is an American rock band formed in 1986 in Columbia, South Carolina. Fronted by lead vocalist Darius Rucker, the band is known for its blend of rock, pop, and southern influences. Their debut album Cracked Rear View became one of the best-selling albums of the 1990s, featuring hit singles like "Hold My Hand" and "Let Her Cry." The band's music is characterized by catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and Rucker's distinctive baritone voice, which have made them a staple of the adult contemporary and rock charts.

After taking a hiatus in the mid-2000s, Hootie & The Blowfish reunited in 2019, releasing new music and embarking on a highly successful tour. The band’s enduring appeal lies in its ability to craft songs that are both relatable and singable, bridging the gap between rock and pop while maintaining a strong fan base. Darius Rucker’s successful solo career in country music has also contributed to the band's sustained popularity, making Hootie & The Blowfish a continued presence in American music culture.
