Gabby Pahinui

Gabby Pahinui, born Charles Kapono Kahahawai Pahinui, is widely regarded as the father of modern Hawaiian music, particularly known for his mastery of slack-key guitar (kī hōʻalu). Born in 1921, he was instrumental in popularizing this unique Hawaiian guitar style, which features a distinctive, open-tuning technique.
