Edwyn Collins

Edwyn Collins is a Scottish musician, producer, and record label owner, best known for his work as the lead singer of the band Orange Juice. Formed in the late 1970s, Orange Juice played a pivotal role in the post-punk movement, blending punk rock with soul and funk influences. Collins' distinctive baritone voice and witty, literate lyrics set the band apart, leading to their most famous hit, "Rip It Up," which became a defining track of the era. After the band's dissolution in 1985, Collins embarked on a solo career, achieving international success with the 1994 single "A Girl Like You," which remains a staple of 90s alternative rock.

In addition to his musical career, Collins has earned recognition as a producer, working with artists like The Cribs and Franz Ferdinand. He has also battled significant health challenges, including a severe brain hemorrhage in 2005, from which he has remarkably recovered. His resilience and continued creative output have made him a respected figure in the music industry. Collins' contributions to music have been celebrated with various accolades, including the Ivor Novello Award for Inspiration in 2009.
