Dennis Kamakahi

Dennis Kamakahi was a revered Hawaiian slack-key guitarist, singer, and composer, known for his beautifully crafted songs that have become standards in Hawaiian music. Born in 1953, Kamakahi was deeply influenced by the traditional Hawaiian music of his ancestors, and he composed many beloved songs, including “Pua Hone” and “Wahine ’Ilikea.” His work often reflects the natural beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, as well as the depth of Hawaiian culture and spirituality.

Kamakahi was also a member of the Sons of Hawaii, one of the most influential Hawaiian music groups of the 20th century. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades, including Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. His music continues to inspire both Hawaiian musicians and audiences around the world.
