Deftones

Deftones are a genre-defying alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California, in 1988. While often associated with the nu-metal movement of the late 1990s, their music transcends simple classification, incorporating elements of shoegaze, dream pop, and post-hardcore. Their 1997 album Around the Fur helped establish their reputation, but it was White Pony (2000) that showcased their full artistic depth, with tracks like "Change (In the House of Flies)" and "Digital Bath" blending heavy riffs with haunting melodies. Frontman Chino Moreno’s dynamic vocals, ranging from ethereal whispers to visceral screams, add to the band’s unique sonic texture.

Over the years, Deftones have continued to evolve, refusing to stick to a formula and always pushing their sound forward. Albums like Diamond Eyes (2010) and Koi No Yokan (2012) displayed their ability to balance aggression and atmosphere, earning them a devoted following beyond the metal scene. Their commitment to experimentation and emotional depth has solidified them as one of the most respected and enduring bands in alternative music, influencing countless artists across multiple genres.
