Deadeye Dick
Deadeye Dick was a New Orleans-based alternative rock band that gained brief but significant fame in the mid-1990s with their quirky hit "New Age Girl." The song, with its upbeat melody and humorous lyrics about a free-spirited woman named Mary Moon, became a staple of '90s alternative radio. Released on their debut album A Different Story (1994), the track gained even more exposure when it was featured in the film Dumb and Dumber, helping the band reach a wider audience.
Despite their initial success, Deadeye Dick struggled to maintain momentum in a rapidly changing musical landscape. Their follow-up releases failed to replicate the impact of their debut, and the band eventually faded from the mainstream. However, their legacy as a quintessential '90s one-hit wonder remains intact, with “New Age Girl” still frequently appearing on nostalgic playlists and soundtracks.
