Daniel Truhitte

Daniel Truhitte is an American actor, singer, and dancer best known for his role as Rolf, Liesl von Trapp’s love interest in The Sound of Music. His character, initially portrayed as a charming and affectionate young man, undergoes a significant transformation, ultimately siding with the Nazis. Truhitte’s performance in Sixteen Going on Seventeen remains one of the film’s most memorable musical moments, highlighting his smooth singing voice and graceful dancing.

Though The Sound of Music was his most famous role, Truhitte continued to work in entertainment as a performer and music teacher. He remained involved in musical theater and occasionally participated in Sound of Music events and interviews. His role as Rolf added dramatic tension to the film, particularly in the climactic scene where he hesitates before alerting the Nazis to the von Trapp family’s escape, making his character’s arc one of the film’s most compelling.
