Charles Dutoit

Charles Dutoit is a Swiss conductor acclaimed for his interpretations of French and Russian repertoire, particularly with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, which he led to international prominence during his tenure from 1977 to 2002. His precise technique, elegant phrasing, and flair for orchestral color made him a favorite interpreter of Ravel, Debussy, and Stravinsky, earning widespread acclaim and numerous awards.

Dutoit has held major conducting positions with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and NHK Symphony Orchestra, among others. His extensive discography includes landmark recordings of the French orchestral canon and works by Prokofiev and Shostakovich.
