Caviar
Caviar was an American alternative rock band that emerged in the late 1990s, known for their catchy melodies, witty lyrics, and a sound that blended rock, pop, and electronic influences. Formed in Chicago, Illinois, by former Fig Dish members Blake Smith (vocals/guitar) and Mike Willison (bass), along with Dave Suh (guitar) and Jason Batchko (drums), the band was short-lived but left a lasting impression with their self-titled debut album, Caviar (2000).
Caviar's music often showcased a mix of playful and irreverent themes, with their most notable song, "Tangerine Speedo," gaining attention for its use in the soundtrack of the movie Gone in 60 Seconds (2000). The song’s upbeat, cheeky vibe captured the band’s essence and introduced them to a wider audience. Despite releasing a follow-up album, The Thin Mercury Sound (2004), the band struggled to maintain momentum and disbanded shortly afterward. While their time in the spotlight was brief, Caviar is fondly remembered for their infectious energy and unique contributions to the alternative rock scene.
