Blue Swede

Blue Swede was a Swedish rock band that gained international fame in the 1970s, best known for their cover of "Hooked on a Feeling." Formed in 1973 and led by vocalist Björn Skifs, Blue Swede quickly rose to prominence with their unique version of the song, which featured a distinctive "ooga-chaka" chant. This cover topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States in 1974, making them the first Swedish band to achieve this feat. The band's sound was a blend of pop rock and glam rock, characterized by catchy melodies, strong harmonies, and Skifs' charismatic vocals.

Following the success of "Hooked on a Feeling," Blue Swede released several other singles and albums, including their debut album "Out of the Blue." While they continued to enjoy popularity in Sweden, their international success was more fleeting. Despite this, Blue Swede's influence on the pop and rock music scenes of the 1970s was significant, and their version of "Hooked on a Feeling" remains an enduring classic, frequently featured in movies, commercials, and television shows. Björn Skifs went on to have a successful solo career, but Blue Swede's brief burst of international stardom left a lasting legacy.
