Belle & Sebastian
Belle & Sebastian is a Scottish indie pop band known for their literate, melancholic, and often whimsical songs. Formed in Glasgow in the mid-1990s, the band quickly gained a cult following with their debut album Tigermilk and breakthrough record If You’re Feeling Sinister. Their music blends soft, melodic instrumentation with introspective lyrics, often telling deeply personal or observational stories.
Over the years, Belle & Sebastian have remained a defining force in indie music, evolving their sound while maintaining their distinct lyrical charm. They’ve experimented with orchestral arrangements, electronic elements, and upbeat pop influences while staying true to their storytelling roots. Their influence can be seen in the rise of twee and chamber pop, making them one of the most enduring indie acts of their generation.
