L7
L7 is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1985, known for their raw, aggressive sound and feminist ethos. The band consists of Donita Sparks (vocals/guitar), Suzi Gardner (guitar/vocals), Jennifer Finch (bass), and Demetra Plakas (drums). They gained prominence in the early 1990s with their third album, "Bricks Are Heavy," which featured the hit single "Pretend We're Dead." L7's music is characterized by its heavy guitar riffs, rebellious lyrics, and unapologetic attitude, making them pioneers of the riot grrrl movement and influential figures in the grunge and alternative rock scenes.
Throughout their career, L7 has been known for their outspoken activism and provocative stage antics. They have used their platform to address issues such as women's rights, environmentalism, and social justice, often challenging the male-dominated rock industry. Despite disbanding in 2001, L7 reunited in 2014 and continue to perform and release new music, much to the delight of their loyal fanbase. Their enduring legacy as trailblazers for women in rock and their commitment to social causes have cemented their status as icons in the punk and alternative music worlds.
