B21

B21 is a British bhangra band that was formed in the mid-1990s in Birmingham, UK. The band, consisting of brothers Bally and Bhota Jagpal along with vocalist Jassi Sidhu, played a significant role in the resurgence of bhangra music during the late 1990s and early 2000s. B21’s music is characterized by its blend of traditional Punjabi rhythms and contemporary Western beats, making it highly popular among the South Asian diaspora in the UK and beyond. Their album Darshan is particularly well-known, featuring hit songs like “Deor Da Viah” and “Jaan.”

B21’s innovative approach to bhangra helped bring the genre to a wider audience, both in the UK and internationally. The band’s influence extended to other artists within the bhangra scene, contributing to the genre’s evolution and popularity. Although B21 eventually disbanded, with Jassi Sidhu pursuing a successful solo career, their music remains a significant part of the bhangra landscape, remembered for its energetic beats and cross-cultural appeal.
