Air

AIR is a French electronic music duo formed in 1995 by Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. Known for their lush, atmospheric soundscapes, AIR blends elements of downtempo, synth-pop, and ambient music to create a dreamy, cinematic experience. Their breakthrough came with the 1998 album Moon Safari, featuring iconic tracks like Sexy Boyand Kelly Watch the Stars, which defined the chill-out genre of the late ’90s. AIR's signature style incorporates vintage synthesizers, delicate melodies, and spacey, melancholic textures that evoke a sense of nostalgia and futurism at the same time. Their work has frequently crossed into film, most notably composing the haunting, ethereal soundtrack for The Virgin Suicides (1999), which further solidified their reputation as sonic architects of mood and atmosphere. Over the years, AIR has continued to evolve, blending orchestral elements and experimental sounds while maintaining their unmistakable elegance and emotional depth.
